The Spirit of the Southwest at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Located in the Animal Kingdom resort area of Walt Disney World, Coronado Springs Resort has a variety of artistic influences from the southwestern, turquoise-accented touches in their guest rooms to the Spanish colonial architecture of the buildings to the Mayan pyramid overlooking the main pool. The main Dig Site area contains the main Lost City of Cibola pool, surrounded by Mayan ruins and featuring a water slide and the largest hot tub on Walt Disney World property. The resort is divided into three areas: Ranchos, Cabanas, and Casitas. Cabanas and Casitas are the closest to the resort’s main dining area El Centro, and Cabanas is closest to the Lost City of Cibola pool. Casitas is located closest to the resort’s convention center, and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort hosts a variety of business conventions throughout the year.

Disney’s Coronado Springs is spread out around the lovely Lago Dorado, where Guests can find walking paths and even a running path for those who want to get their exercise in before they hit the parks each day. Families will also enjoy the playground and opportunities to play beach volleyball!

Most rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort can sleep 4 guests with 2 queen beds. Rooms with king beds are also available, and guests can select Preferred rooms that are located closer to El Centro for an additional cost. The resort also offers a selection of suites, which are primarily located in the Casitas area of the resort.

A major renovation to this resort was recently completed that added the new Gran Destino Tower, which is the new home for check in, along with 545 additional guest rooms, along with some great new dining options in addition to the existing options. For a quick, casual meal, El Mercado de Coronado offers a variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you want to get into the theme of the resort, you can try dinner at Maya Grill with a variety of traditional Mexican dishes. Enjoy at tapas, seafood and steak in style  in the Spanish-themed Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood in Gran Destino Tower. Or try casual dining in the lakefront restaurant, Three Bridges Bar & Grill. And for those that would like to unwind with a relaxing drink, there are several options throughout the resort, including the Barcelona Lounge, the Dahlia Lounge, Laguna Bar, and Cafe Rix (for a delicious smoothie). Sports enthusiasts will also appreciate Rix Sports Bar and Grill where you can cheer on your favorite team at one of the 31 state-of-the-art TVs.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort offers bus transportation to Walt Disney World’s four theme parks and Disney Springs. As this is a large resort there are multiple bus stops throughout, so no matter where you are staying, there will be a bus stop nearby.
