Learning to “Let Go” With Disney’s Magical Express

Once upon a time we drove to Walt Disney World. There are of course, a number of pros and cons to doing this, but one of the pros, in my opinion, was having a car while we were visiting the parks. It allowed us the freedom to come and go when and how we wanted, no waiting for a bus, no standing, just get in your car and go. For the planner/control freak that I tend to be, it was perfect. 🙂

Then we started flying….but still unwilling to give up my car freedom, we also rented a car for our time in Florida. You know, to have “just in case”. Just in case of what, I am not certain, but we had the car anyway. Just In Case.

However the cost of airfare PLUS the cost of renting a car starts to add up….and if there is anything I want to do more than be in control, it’s save money. So we ditched the car rental about a dozen Disney vacations ago.

That’s when I fell in love with Disney’s Magical Express….and learned how to let go and leave the driving to Disney. And I gotta tell ya, it really works! 🙂

If you are staying in a Walt Disney World resort, and have never used Magical Express before, let me share with you just how easy and convenient it is.

Disney with Special Needs: That’s One Heck of a Field Trip

We have already established that my family is a little out of the realm of average for a variety of reasons. One that I haven’t talked about is the fact that the little one is homeschooled. While I wouldn’t necessarily say that this is another of our special needs, it does make for some special circumstances, and that includes when we travel to Disney. Read more

Thrifty Thursday: Planning Quick Service Meals

Even though quick-service meals can afford to be more spontaneous than table-service meals at Walt Disney World, I am all about planning strategy – even for this. Quick-service meals do not require any reservations, but at peak meal times the lines for these restaurants can be formidable…and after all, time is money! Here are a few tips for planning quick-service meals, so that you can make the most of your time in the parks! Disney with Special Needs: Planning Your Jaunt to the Food and Wine Festival

Happy Fall, Y’all! Yes, it is July. However, it is after July 4, so therefore, it is autumn. Maybe not? Alright, so perhaps it isn’t quite fall yet, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of people whose thoughts have swung right on past the last several weeks of summer and are firmly dreaming of tumbling leaves, cuddly sweaters, and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING. I won’t lie, I kind of dream about this all the time. While last year that meant dreaming of spending my anniversary and Halloween at Disney, for many people that means one pretty fabulous event (and one that, incidentally, is going to start earlier this year than ever before), the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. Disney with Special Needs: Holidays at Disney Prep – Part Three

So when do you start packing for your Disney vacation? Not five months out? Oh. Well, that’s where we differ. I kind of don’t ever unpack from Disney. Not that I have suitcases shoved full of dirty vacation clothes that I just toss into the back of the car when we leave. We bring along laundry detergent and wash clothes before heading home and there are a few items that we don’t take out of our suitcases because they are for-Disney-only. Leaving them in the car makes me feel like I’m never too far away from another trip. Of course when it’s a special trip, like one over THE HOLIDAYS, even the real packing has to get a boost and start early. I haven’t gone full-on roll-the-underwear-and-tuck-the-socks yet, but I’ve been adding to my Disney stash and I wanted to give you a glimpse of the extra things I’m planning to bring along with me for this trip.
