On select nights in the fall, the Magic Kingdom transforms into a not-so-scary Halloween wonderland with special entertainment and characters, trick-or-treating, and the opportunity for all guests to dress up. As with most things when it comes to a Disney vacation, having a plan will help you make the most of your time (and money!) at this fun event!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a hard-ticket event, meaning that it requires a ticket separate from regular park admission. Note that you do not need regular park admission in order to enter the party – just your party ticket. If you want to enter a park during the day, you will need to use regular admission (you can even “park hop” by visiting a different park before the party). The party officially kicks off at 7 pm, but guests with a party ticket can enter as early as 4 pm.
To make the most of your party time, try to have dinner before the party starts at 7 pm. Enter the Magic Kingdom at 4 pm and have dinner, or eat before going to the park. Once the party gets started, there is a lot to do, and you’ll want to take full advantage of your party time!
The main events at the party are the Happy Hallowishes fireworks (only one showing per party) and the Boo-to-You Parade (two showings per party, with the second being the less crowded). Since these are the main events with set times, consult a schedule and plan the rest of your activities around these – they are not to be missed!
Other special entertainment includes party-exclusive character meets, often including rare characters such as all Seven Dwarfs, Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Winnie the Pooh and friends dressed in their Halloween costumes, Captain Jack Sparrow, and more. (Specific characters may vary year to year – consult a schedule for specific character meets). Most of these meets are very popular, particularly the Seven Dwarfs and Jack and Sally. Depending on your preference, line up for one of these two before the party starts (by 6 at the latest) to meet them without using much of your party time. For other popular meets, try stopping by near the very end of the party.
Guests can also trick-or-treat on candy trails throughout the Magic Kingdom. It’s not every Halloween you can say that you trick-or-treated in the most magical place on Earth, but if you want to catch most of the entertainment available at the party, allot your trick-or-treating time carefully.
Most major attractions at the Magic Kingdom are also open during the party, and because of the limited number of party tickets and all the competing entertainment, lines are usually short. Keep in mind, though, that visiting regular attractions will take time away from any party entertainment. Decide on your priorities before you visit.
