When you have a large(r) family or are looking for room to spread out on your Disney vacation – and maybe even have a kitchen so you can do some cooking – what do you do? Happily, the Walt Disney World Resort offers a number of options for guests who are looking for just that, at their Deluxe Villas. While some villas are part of existing deluxe resorts and so share facilities and amenities (Disney’s Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Animal Kingdom Resorts are examples) there are several deluxe villas that are ‘standalone’ resorts in that they only have villas. One of these – and a personal favorite of ours – is Disney’s Old Key West Resort. With a quiet and colorful Key West vibe, and enhanced with water ways and palm tree lined streets, this resort might just be the perfect option for your next Disney vacation.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort features a variety of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and deluxe studio villas. The largest villas can sleep up to 9 adults, and the 1 and 2 bedroom villas will feature a full kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and an in-room washer and dryer. The deluxe studios, which are the largest studios at Walt Disney World, are also currently the only ones that feature 2 queen beds (as opposed to a queen and sleep sofa). Studios will all have a mini-kitchenette with small frig, sink, toaster, microwave, and coffee pot.

One of the nicest things about this resort is how incredibly peaceful and lovely it is. It is truly a welcome respite from a busy day at the parks, and the perfect place to take an entire “day off” to relax and recharge those batteries.
The main pool at Disney’s Old Key West features a water slide that winds through a larger-than-life sandcastle. Guests can also enjoy several leisure pools scattered throughout the resort, each with a whirlpool spa. Guests can also enjoy other outdoor activities such as roasting marshmallows, renting a bicycle or surrey bike, and movies under the stars.
Olivia’s Café is the casual dining restaurant of the resort, and a hidden gem of Walt Disney World dining. Guests can also order drinks and Olivia’s Café menu items from the Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits bar. For quick-service burgers, sandwiches, and other quick fare, you can visit Good’s Food To Go.
Of course, if you forgot something, there’s also the local general store where you can purchase essentials, including grocery items.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is quite spread out, and so features multiple bus stops so guests don’t have to walk too far to get to transportation. The resort features bus transportation to the four Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs, and also has boat transportation to Disney Springs. In addition, guests will find a variety of recreational boat options here.
When you’re looking for a peaceful resort with more space and the chance to truly feel like you’re “home” for your Disney vacation, the lovely deluxe villas at Disney’s Old Key West Resort are the perfect answer!
