When it comes to an “out of this world” experience, it’s hard to beat “Rise of the Resistance”, located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As a completely immersive experience, Guests will – in many ways – feel like they have left Earth and have landed in a “galaxy far, far away”.
When you “board” this attraction, you’ll be asked to accept a mission from the Resistance, who are gathering recruits for a secret mission. Are you up to the challenge? Your mission is sure to give you a few twists and turns along the way – you never know what will happen, who you’ll encounter – or even if you’ll get captured. But don’t worry, along the way you will have a covert team of Resistance fighters (including Rey and BB-8) to help and they will give you a fighting chance to escape.
Rise of the Resistance is (currently) unique among Walt Disney World attractions in that you need to obtain a boarding pass in order to ride, as there is no stand-by line. Boarding passes can be obtained twice a day via a virtual queue – once at 7 a.m. (from anywhere) and then again at 1 p.m. (from within Disney’s Hollywood Studios). While this can present challenges, truthfully the massive layout and scenes on this ride – and the immersive experience – are well worth what it takes to get a boarding pass. ****NOTE: As of September 23, Rise of the Resistance will temporarily pause the virtual queue system and will become stand-by only. How long this will be in place is unknown at this time.****
Rise of the Resistance is certainly for the Star War fan, but even if you don’t know an ewok from a wookie, don’t let that stop you from exploring Galaxy’s Edge – and joining the Resistance. This attraction should be on everyone’s bucket list to enjoy!
You must be 40” to ride, there are small drops along with dark scenes, loud noises – and immersive *encounters* with characters along the way.

Debbie and her husband live in Chattanooga, TN. They both are huge Disney fans and try to visit the most Magical Place on Earth at least once a year, if possible. They are enjoying taking each of their now 10 grandchildren and hope to also take their great granddaughter in the near future. One of their favorite trips has been visiting Disney with adults only, including one trip when their son proposed to his girlfriend. Each trip begins with the planning, which can take up to a year, beginning with how to get the grandkids excited about their upcoming trip. They have surprised some of them the day before they left, while the latest one had “presents” every 10 days starting at 90 days all leading up to an exciting trip with her parents along also. Their philosophy on Disney Trips? “Each trip is completely different, like visiting Walt Disney World for the first time.” They both enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but enjoy Animal Kingdom and EPCOT the most. It is their goal that everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a magical trip with lots of memories to last a life time.
