Howdy, Folks!  Greetings from closer to Disney than we have ever lived.  Yes, I’m still excited about our move to our little mini-farm… not so much about unpacking an infinite number of boxes… Do two people really need this much stuff?  ‘Nuff about my personal news… Let’s see what’s hopping through March 2015 at Walt Disney World! Terrific Tuesdays: Spaceship Earth

I’ve heard many people ask, “Is there anything at Epcot for my kids to do?” I personally think there is something for everyone at every park. For the child who is interested in history, Spaceship Earth at Epcot should not disappoint. This attraction is the iconic symbol for Epcot. This 15 minutes dark ride goes through the advancement in communication over time. Read more

Thrifty Thursday: Disney Lovers Buy the Farm to Save on Gas for Disney Vacation!

Big Smiles... we are 245 miles closer to Disney World!

We have done it ~ Steve and I have bought the farm (literally) and moved to central west Georgia from North Alabama to save gas when we go to Disney. Really.  Our old address in New Hope, AL (just south of Huntsville, AL), was 617 miles (9 ½ hours without traffic) from our favorite resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Villas.  By buying our little mini-farm in Butler, GA, we have reduced the trip to 372 miles (5 ½ hours without traffic).  That’s 245 miles closer to Disney!  Now if you consider that gas currently is about $2.19/gallon and my Tahoe gets approximately 18 miles to the gallon, it will take about 40 gallons round trip as opposed to the former 68 gallons.  Why that’s a savings of 28 gallons per trip = $61.32 savings!  When Steve got this offer to come back to Georgia, we did consider that it would put us closer to family; we also have been blessed to find our dream home that fits us better than we could have hoped, but the deciding factor was we are now 245 miles closer to Mickey!  So last week, we packed up two 26’ moving trucks, my Tahoe loaded with our pets (5 dogs, 3 cats, and 20 exotic birds) with a 16’ trailer loaded with bird cages, and my Mom’s Lincoln to caravan from North Alabama to our new home and life in central west Georgia.  Read more

Wordless Wednesday: Reflections of Earth

“Good evening and Welcome! We’ve gathered here tonight around the fire, as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us, to share the light and to share a story — an amazing story, as old as time itself, but still being written. And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. We hope you enjoy our story tonight: Reflections of Earth.

Everyone who visits Walt Disney World has a favorite nightime show. For me, while I enjoy Fantasmic, and love Wishes, my favorite hands down is IllumiNations.

The current version began during the Millenium Celebration in 2000….which means that it is 15 years old now. Nothing stays at Disney World forever, so I know it’s only a matter of time before this amazing show is Disney history. And I’m sure that what will take it’s place will be wonderful too. But there will always be a special place in my heart for these beautiful Reflections of Earth.
