Walt Disney World not only has four amazing theme parks, two water parks, and the Disney Springs shopping and dining district – it’s also home to about two dozen resort hotels. In addition to being on-property and close to the theme parks, Walt Disney World’s on-site resorts offer plenty of extra perks for guests visiting the parks.
First of all, if you’re one that doesn’t want to drive on vacation, or if you’d like to cut out the cost of renting a car, Walt Disney World offers complimentary transportation throughout the resort. Guests staying at a Disney resort hotel can get around by bus, boat, or monorail (depending on the resort) to the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Also, if you’re flying into Orlando International Airport, you can also take advantage of the complimentary Magical Express service to and from the airport.
If you just can’t get enough time in the theme parks, you’ll also want to make use of Extra Magic Hours. On select mornings and evenings at select parks, Disney resort hotel guests have the opportunity for more time in the theme parks outside of regular opening and closing times. This time is exclusive to on-site hotel guests and includes most major attractions in the parks.
Would you like to give your vacation an all-inclusive feel and not be surprised by credit card bills after your trip? The Disney Dining Plan is a package add-on you can pay ahead of time that can cover most if not all of your food during your trip. The plan is only available to guests staying at an on-site hotel, and is valid at nearly every Walt Disney World restaurant in the theme parks, Disney Springs, and at the resorts.
Many visitors to Walt Disney World already know how important it can be to make dining reservations for popular restaurants and reserve FastPasses for popular rides. Disney resort guests get an extra jump on both of these. For dining, guests can make reservations for their entire trip (up to 10 days) once they reach the 180-day mark for their arrival day, as opposed to a hard 180 days for off-site guests. Also, on-site guests can make FastPass selections up to 60 days in advance, as opposed to 30 days for off-site guests. Both are benefits that are extremely helpful in planning your park time and making the most of that time.
Lastly, one of our favorite things about staying at a Disney resort hotel is the fantastic theming and service. Different Disney resorts can make you feel like you’re on an African safari, in the islands of the South Pacific, touring the American southwest, or strolling through New Orleans. They bring the feel of the theme parks to the resorts, so that you get the sense of being in the middle of the magic for your entire stay.
