With the ongoing construction of “Disney Springs”, Downtown Disney is beginning to give guests newer and faster dining options, adding more walk-up options for you to feast on the go.
Being a chef I am a huge fan of food trucks. These restaurants on wheels give young chefs a chance to branch out and be creative without being tied down to one location. For diners it gives them an opportunity to sample many different things quickly and cheaply. This trend in food service has made it’s way to Downtown Disney. Four trucks have been parked on the West Side for you to enjoy.
Favorites of the Stars: reflects the diner feel of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It features different meatball dishes such as lamb with tzatziki, turkey with raisins, and meatball marinara.
Namaste Cafe: This food truck brings all the ethnic cuisine of Disney Animal Kingdom. They feature butter chicken, braised short ribs, and tandoori shrimp.
The Fantasy Fare: This bright red truck brings you all the favorites from Magic Kingdom’s all over the world. Hand dipped corn dogs from Disneyland, Croque Monsieur from Magic Kingdom Park, and the glass noodle salad from Hong Kong Disneyland.
World Showcase of Flavors Truck: Do you want to enjoy flavors from around the world without walking the World Showcase? Then this truck is for you. It features lobster rolls, pierogies with kielbasa, and beef sliders.

A more recent addition and one I am very excited to try is The Smokehouse at the House of Blues. This walk up window features BBQ, a sitting area outside, outdoor bar, and a small stage to listen to live music. This location used to be the box office that was attached to the HOB. I have heard great things about the food here.

The last one is a limited time offering at Earl of Sandwich. If you have read my previous articles on saving money at Walt Disney World, you know I am a huge fan of this restaurant. Although it is a chain, they offer fantastic food at affordable prices (we stock up and put them in our room fridge for a cheap lunch or late night snack). They have two new sandwiches, a side, and a dessert for you to try. I usually stick with “The Original” or “Holiday Sandwich” when I’m there, but who knows I might branch out.
