With two main theme parks and a water theme park, there is a lot to see and do at Universal Orlando Resort. Let’s take a look today at some of the best themed areas to explore when you visit!
5. Marvel Super Hero Island: This stylized metropolis area has many larger-than-life superheroes doing battle with a legion of supervillains. Here you can meet some of your favorite Marvel superheroes or villains, shop for comics, or take an adventurous ride on the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
4. Springfield, USA: Fans of the Simpsons will love this area! Universal took advantage of how many restaurants and types of food are available from the show, and you can try everything from Duff Beer to a Krusty Burger to a (non-alcoholic) Flaming Moe. You can also visit Moe’s Tavern or get a picture with Chief Wiggum.
3. Seuss Landing: One of my favorite areas to explore in Islands of Adventure, this adorable area feels like a Dr. Seuss illustration come to life. Be sure to find the Lorax amongst the Truffula trees. A great way to see this entire land is to ride the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride, a mild train ride above the buildings of Seuss Landing. Many of the rides are designed for a younger crowd, but I’ve always loved Dr. Seuss, and exploring this area is a lot of fun for any fan of the books.
2. Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade: The area I love to explore the most is still the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which has a painstaking attention to detail throughout. The Hogsmeade section of it, located in Islands of Adventure, makes it feel as though you’re walking through narrow streets of shops, with Hogwarts seated majestically on the hill at the end of the road. Be sure to pay attention to all of the shop windows. If you go to ride Flight of the Hippogriff, you can also find Hagrid’s Hut and Buckbeak in the queue. Speaking of queues, even if you’re not riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the queue is not to be missed.
1. Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley: Although Hogsmeade has wonderful theming, my top pick for detail is still Diagon Alley, the section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Florida. The detail here is amazingly dense, and I end up spotting something new every time I visit. Go inside the shops, explore hidden corners, and don’t miss Knockturn Alley. Again, even if you’re not keen to ride Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, the queue is an experience in itself with some amazing animatronics. If you don’t go through the queue, you can still see a sample of these effects by having a conversation with a goblin in the Gringotts Money Exchange.
