Thrifty Thursday: Stroller Tips for Visiting Disney World

Taking little ones to Walt Disney World will be memorable for everyone, until you start packing and realize just how much you need to take for just them. The biggest and most welcome item – a stroller! I highly recommend a stroller for any little one that cannot walk and keep up with adults or ones that tire easily. Walt Disney is a big place and will require a lot of walking that even wears out most adults!

Stroller rentals are available at all the parks, but they must be turned in when leaving the parks. This is fine for older children who can walk to the bus or car, but doesn’t help for younger ones unless you can handle children, backpacks and any other items on the way back to the hotels.

Or you may be able to save money by renting a stroller from one of several local companies that will even deliver the stroller to your resort and pick it up at the end of your trip. (Check with the company directly to confirm their policy: some companies may need to meet you at the resort to deliver and pick up, while others may be able to do so without you actually being there.)

In my opinion – taking an umbrella stroller is the easiest route. Not only is it small enough to pack up quickly when getting on the bus or other modes of transportation, but are easy to maneuver around in the parks. Choose one with a basket below and a canopy so you have the added benefit of extra room for carrying things you may need during the day.

Always mark your stroller with something bright and distinctive so you know it is yours. Strollers do get moved around while you are on the rides, so you want to be able to find them easily. Attach a bright colored bandana or something similar.

While I am not sure about size requirements on the buses for strollers, all strollers must be folded and put out of the aisle ways. Some of the large double-wide or back to back strollers may take up a good amount of room, so if you do require a double stroller, you might want to consider 2 small umbrella strollers instead, if there are 2 adults along.
