In preparation for our trip, Susan and I have been making some very important notes about things we want to do and see – and eat – at Walt Disney World. One of our favorite meals can be found right at our resort. This gem at the Riverside Mill Food Court at the Port Orleans Riverside is called the Create-Your-Own-Pasta Bar.
What’s not to love? Disney and pasta – they had us at hello!
At a price of just under $11, the Create-Your-Own-Pasta Bar is offered daily from 11:00 a.m. to midnight. On one of my previous trips, we drove for 17 hours straight and arrived at the resort at 8:30 p.m. We were all starving, so we decided to check in and then go on over to the Riverside Mill food court to eat dinner. I grabbed a tray, looked around at the signs that listed the available entrees, saw the word “pasta” and I was all over it. The cast member pulled out a bowl-shaped container and asked me what all I wanted in my pasta. There was an extensive list of ingredients from which to choose:
Pasta: fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne
Sauce: alfredo, marinara, or pesto
Meat: chicken or shrimp
Toppings: artichoke hearts, broccoli, Cremini mushrooms, Kalamata olives, parmesan cheese, green peas, pine nuts, prosciutto, roasted red peppers, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and yellow onions.
You can choose as little or as much as you want. Here are mine and Susan’s choices for our Italian feast, and I call it a feast because when they hand it to you you’d better use both hands as it is a heavy container full of delicious richness.
Susan loves the classic roman dish of fettuccine alfredo supercharged with lots of shredded parmesan cheese and an American touch of grilled chicken thrown in.
I love to start mine off in the traditional roman way as well, with fettucine and alfredo sauce. Sometimes I add the chicken and sometimes the shrimp. Then, I load it up like a super spud with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, kalamatas, parmesan cheese, pine nuts, roasted red peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes.
All the ingredients are fresh; just as if I were making it at home. Plus, they prepare it right in front of you. The aroma is tantalizing enough to torture you as you wait in line at the register too. If you have never seen two ladies who thoroughly enjoy and appreciate yummy pasta dishes, it would be a totally new and unique Disney experience for you! If you are in the area, come join us – goodness knows they have enough selections to please any palate.
Try the Create-Your-Own Pasta bar at the Riverside Mill at the Port Orleans Riverside during your next visit! It might just be pasta to you but, take it from me, everything always tastes better at Disney!!! Buon Appetito!
