Walt Disney World’s on-site resorts are great complements to a Walt Disney World vacation, with great theming, fun pools, and even extra activities available to resort guests – and many of these activities are free! Check out some extra fun stuff you can do at your Walt Disney World resort.
Electric Water Pageant: Every night a series of electrically-lit floats proceed across the Seven Seas Lagoon past the Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, and Contemporary. Times are subject to change. If you time it right and visit the right resort, you can catch the pageant and view the fireworks.
Movies under the Stars: Walt Disney World on-site resorts offer free movies under the stars on most nights, weather permitting. If you need to unwind from a long day at the parks, this is a great way to do it. Find show times and movie selections in the resort activity guide provided at check-in.
Resort Tours: Some resorts offer free tours open to all guests. The Wonders of the Wilderness Lodge gives guests a free, 1-hour tour of the development and design of the Wilderness Lodge. The Animal Kingdom Lodge offers short tours of three of their restaurants, Jiko, Boma, and Sanaa, including a few free food samples. Of course, Animal Kingdom Lodge also has some pretty great animals to learn about and see!
Art of Animation Resort Drawing Classes: At Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, guests can learn how to draw Disney characters in the playroom near the front desk in the lobby. Kids can also submit their drawings to compete to be the Sketch Artist of the Day.
Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-Along: Beginning around 7 or 8 near the Meadow Trading Post at the Fort Wilderness Campground, this free activity is available to all guests. Campfires are available for guests to roast marshmallows (you can bring your own or buy them there), and there is also a snack bar. Cast Members lead guests in a sing-along, and then Chip and Dale show up to greet guests and sign autographs. Afterwards is an outdoor Disney movie showing. Even if you do elect to buy some snacks there, this is a very inexpensive Disney character experience. Since its outdoors, this event is weather permitting.
