There are all kinds of fun things to explore at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, and while rides and attractions may be at the top of your list, don’t overlook a very magical experience – choosing a wand at Ollivander’s wand shop.
Of course everyone knows that the wand actually chooses the wizard, but either way, visiting Ollivander’s is a fascinating experience whether wizard or muggle. With two shops – one in Hogsmeade and one in Diagon Alley, you have a couple different locations to visit and find your wand. Both locations offer a “show” prior to entering the wand shop, and while you don’t have to watch the show first, you really should, as it will be here that the wand maker explains how the wand chooses the wizard, and someone from the audience will actually be chosen to participate.
After the show, you’ll be escorted into the wand shop itself where you’ll find all kinds of wands, some of which are interactive and can do certain “spells” outside the shop. (Of course a wand with these important magical powers will cost more than a “regular” wand will.). As you explore the shop, see what wand is calling to you and once you find it, make your purchase and then head out into the Wizarding World as a full-fledged wizard! (Don’t forget the map that comes with your wand, so that you can try out your newfound wizarding powers with some fun spells.)
Visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is truly a bucket-list “must-do” for any Harry Potter fan. When you go, Ollivander’s will be waiting to help you find the perfect wand!
