You may already know about Universal Orlando Resort’s many rides and roller coasters, but the resort’s two parks also have some great shows with a little bit for everyone. Here’s some of our favorites at Universal Studios Florida.
Each section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has its own daily entertainment, but our favorite is definitely the brief but wonderful show inside Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Guests are briefly introduced to the world of wand-making, and one lucky guest will be matched with their own wand as they try out a few spells. There’s an Ollivander’s in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, though the one in Diagon Alley is larger and usually has a shorter wait.
There’s always a show going on somewhere in Universal Studios, and another of our favorite street shows is the Blues Brothers Show in the New York section of the park. Jake and Elwood sing all the favorite songs from the film, with some other guest appearances, as well.
If you’re a fan of Universal’s classic monster movies, or just like horror films in general, you’ll want to check out Universal’s Horror Makeup Show. This comedic show demonstrates a few horror film special effects (with some help from the audience). Be aware that the show does feature some gory parts. This show is located in Hollywood across from Mel’s Dine-In.
Looking for something a bit more cute and fluffy? Check out Animal Actors on Location, right next to the Woody Woodpecker KidZone. You’ll see a variety of animals, including dogs, birds, pigs, and more, performing tricks with their trainers. The show’s hosts also discuss how they train animals using positive reinforcement.
In the evening, you won’t want to miss Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular. This nighttime show takes place on the lagoon between San Francisco and World Expo/Springfield USA. The Cinematic Spectacular showcases Universal’s 100 years of movie-making, from comedy to horror to romance, projected onto several giant water screens. The show is accompanied by swirling fountains, lasers, and pyrotechnics. Viewing is available all around the lagoon, though one of our favorite spots is along the water near the Central Park area.
