When you’re looking for a sleek and sophisticated place to stay on your vacation to Walt Disney World – and want a fabulous location to go with it – Disney’s Contemporary Resort is your choice! This deluxe resort is the closest Walt Disney World Resort hotel to the Magic Kingdom (you can walk there!), and is one of the original resorts that opened along with the Magic Kingdom in 1971.
The theme at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is more subtle than what you’ll find at other deluxe resorts and focuses on a bright, clean, modern aesthetic. The resort’s distinctive A-frame main building has a subtly futuristic feel to it, with little Disney touches included in the décor, including an amazing mural by Disney artist Mary Blair (It’s a Small World designer among other accomplishments) of the Grand Canyon.
Guests at the resort can enjoy the hotel’s feature pool with a water slide and water play area, along with a wonderful view of the nearby Bay Lake. There are also two hot tubs for guests to enjoy.
Most rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort can sleep up to 5 guests with 2 queen beds and 1 day bed, and there are also some suite and club level options available. Guests can choose to room in the Tower the resort’s main A-frame building), or in the Garden Wing, a separate building between the Tower and Bay Lake. The Garden Wing is a little bit further in walking distance from the resort’s main dining areas and the Magic Kingdom, but it’s also a bit less expensive than the Tower.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a variety of popular dining options, many that guests from other resorts frequently visit. One of the most popular is Chef Mickey’s, a character meal buffet available from breakfast to dinner where guests can meet Mickey and his pals.
For upscale dining, California Grill offers fresh, modern cuisine along with stunning views of the nearby Magic Kingdom. Guests can also enjoy more casual table-service dining at The Wave… of American Flavors, and grab quick-service items and a fun variety of desserts at Contempo Café.
Another fun feature of Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the transportation – the monorail runs right through the main building of the resort! Guests can use the monorail to visit the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Bus service is available to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs. In addition, the Magic Kingdom is only about a 10-minute walk away.
Modern design, great amenities, fantastic location – all reasons why Disney’s Contemporary Resort may be the perfect location for your family!
