On our last trip to The Animal Kingdom, after watching one of our favorite shows there, The Lion King, our tummies were ROARING like lions! So we decided to stop in at Pizzafari and have a quick service meal. Located in the Africa section of Discovery Island, this whimsical, brightly decorated restaurant is a fun place to eat, and you get PLENTY!!
Serving lunch and dinner, you can select from 5 different flatbread pizzas: shrimp, cheese, pepperoni, Mediterranean and cheeseburger and each is served with a small tomato and cucumber salad. The flatbread servings are quite large: my daughter and I could have split one and both been plenty full, so we ate what we could and shared with my hubby and our friend, who gladly ate our leftovers!!
Pizzafari also offers 3 other salads: Heart of Romaine with Shrimp, and Heart of Romaine with Chicken – both served with croutons and Caesar dressing – as well as a side Caesar Salad. Next time I will definitely try one of these as the tomato and cucumber salad, although tasty, was not the kind of salad I had in mind when we ordered. Other sides include Tomato Basil Soup, Garlic Bread Knots (which were super yummy and soft) and Broccoli.
There is also a kids menu for ages 9 and under, serving Mickey shaped pasta with Turkey Marinara Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, a Cheese Flatbread and of course, the much loved Smuckers Uncrustable PB&J Sandwich!
For dessert, they have Tiramisu, and for drinks they offer the usual soft drinks, tea, coffee, water, lemonade and chocolate milk. But they DO offer adult beverages as well. For those of you who would like a cold beer or a Mandarin Orange Vodka Lemonade with your meal, you won’t be disappointed.
So next time you have a hankerin for some yummy flatbread pizza, look no farther than Pizzafari! You can even order ahead through your My Disney Experience App Mobile Order and have your food ready when you arrive, but remember they are not accepting the Disney Dining Plans yet, so you will have to pay by credit card if you order ahead.
