Affordable Disney: Making the Most of Your Time

Like most people who visit Walt Disney World, I want to make the most out of each day. After all, I don’t get to visit as often as I would like so I want to make sure we do as much as possible on each day that we are there. As they say, “time is money” so saving time is saving money too!

So when it comes to ideas for saving time, it’s always good to start at the beginning.

Let’s Get the Planning Started! To save time and effort, make sure you are getting accurate information from reputable websites or a travel agent that specializes in Disney vacations. You will also want to check Disney’s official site of course, and download the My Disney Experience app if you haven’t already. This little app will be very helpful later on, and save a lot of time when you’re at Walt Disney World, with info about the parks, hotels, dining, wait times at the attractions, as well as your personal dining and FastPass plans.

How Much Time Will You Have? The amount of time you will have on vacation will have a huge affect on how you plan your time in the parks. Will you be there a week, or is a long weekend as much as you can comfortable stay? For our family, 5 day weekends work best as they allow us to visit more often and not miss too much work at one time. Keep in mind that planning shorter stays can result in trying to pack almost too much into each day during your visit. That can be exhausting, and be counterproductive the following day!

Where Are You Staying? This is an important part of your planning, and not just from a budget perspective: the best time saver of all is staying on site. You won’t have to worry about driving to Walt Disney World each day through traffic and you can let someone else navigate the ins and outs of the parks! Of course, you have to weigh the pros and cons of staying on/off property and consider your budget, but always figure in time getting to and from the parks as well, since your Disney vacation time is valuable!

What Kind of Park Tickets do You Want? For many folks, choosing Base tickets (one park/day) is a great time-saver for their family. Going from park to park can take some time as you wait for the bus, boat or monorail. Knowing that you will spend your entire day in just one park may help you see and do more!

Exploring Disney: Getting Creative with Your Christmas Goodies

Halloween was two days ago (hope you had a blast!) which means it is now Christmas. That’s just kind of how it works. We get a few precious weeks of pumpkins, skeletons, bats, and ghouls, and then just like Cinderella’s magic spell, at midnight it all changes. Only this time, the pumpkin goes away rather than coming back. Wake up the next morning and everything is jingle bells and bright red hats and goodwill toward men. Read more
