Exploring Disney: Getting Classic at the Circus

There are a few things that immediately come to mind when thinking about Classic Disney. Cinderella and her missing glass slipper. Peter Pan and Tinker Bell soaring off to Neverland. Jiminy Cricket. And, of course, Mickey Mouse.

For me, and many others, one that always makes me smile is Dumbo. Now, I’m not going to lie and tell you I love the movie. I don’t. It makes me cry. But I have a soft spot for Dumbo himself, and my little one has a love for both elephants in general, and this particular big-eared fellow. Read more

Exploring Disney: Explore the Past and Create the Future

The Golf Ball.

Big Spiky Ball.

Majestic Geodesic Sphere.

It’s called a lot of things, but we’re all talking about the same thing..Spaceship Earth. The icon of EPCOT, this glittering silver ball is what welcomes you into this beautiful park, and is one of my favorite sights of the World. It also happens to contain a must-do attraction I just can’t leave Walt Disney World without doing at least once…or twice…or six times. I can’t tell you how surprised I always am to hear people either talking about this amazing attraction as a time-filler or something they’ll do if they get the chance, or those who are stunned to even find out that there is an attraction in there at all. This attraction is Classic Disney and truly inspiring no matter how many times I ride it. The fact that Dame Judi Dench does the narration is just an awesome bonus. Read more

Exploring Disney: Channeling Your Inner Paleontologist

You’ve heard the old cliche about the the doctors who can only imagine their children will follow in their footsteps and be doctors or lawyers, only to have them become artists. Well, my family is the opposite. Hubby and I are both artists, making our living with writing, dancing, acting, and voice artistry, so we imagined our little princess growing up loving all things art. Of course she wants to be a scientist and doctor.

While this isn’t exactly our path in life, we want her to be her little self, so we encourage her to learn whatever she wants to — which is great since she’s homeschooled. One topic she is particularly interested in is dinosaurs. She has loved them since she was just bitty, and continues to think they are just amazing. Since we’ve been going to Disney, I’ve been looking forward to bringing her on Dinosaur, and when we go in September, the time will finally be here! Read more

Disney with Kids – on a Budget!

It’s no secret that a Disney World vacation can be pricey. Maybe the secret is that you CAN actually go to Disney on a budget. If the desire and a little discipline are there, it’s a very real possibility for most families. Vacation costs can add up quickly anywhere you go but I’ve never regretted money spent on memories made and my memories are just as magical regardless of whether our trips were “budget” or not. Exploring Disney: Socializing with Grim Grinning Ghosts

The time has come. We’ve explored Main Street, blasted through Tomorrowland, splashed Under the Sea, dug for gems. These are adventures I love, but they are just supplements to my real heart when it comes to the Magic Kingdom. If you’ve been with me for a while, you won’t be surprised by this reveal. If you haven’t, it’s a great way to get to know me. Either way, get comfy. We’re going deep into the far back corner of the park, where a mysterious house stands, a relic from the past that welcomes you to explore — and maybe to stay.

We’re visiting the Haunted Mansion. Read more
