Cast Member’s Corner: A Very Merry Holiday Season To You

As many of you know whether having read about, seen, or only imagined, Disney goes all out for the winter holiday season.  From throwing parties, decorating the entire property, and even firework displays, the parks, resorts, characters, and cast members get into the holiday spirit and really know how to have a good time.  As many of my fellow Affordable Mouse writers have written about and shown you pictures of, Disney decorates everything.  From garland and lights, to gingerbread creations.  The characters get into their holiday attire and winter gear.  Think Mickey in a top hat and Minnie in her best dress.  Even the princesses don their cloaks and shawls.  Nothing is left untouched to give every guest the feeling of the winter season even if it is still in the 80-degree weather. Cast Member’s Corner: Sleeping in the Canopy

For those of you that are not exactly up to date on your Disney History here’s a short and sweet little lesson on one of the resort options.  From 1975 to 2002 Walt Disney World offered Treehouses as an option for guests to stay.  Come 2002 though they shut these Treehouses down to the public and for a short time they housed Cast Members.  Again after this short stint Disney closed them down.  This time they closed them down to preform a major renovation.

In July 2009 the Treehouses were incorporated into part of Saratoga Springs and the result is that there are 60 new Treehouses that guests have the opportunity to stay at.  Luckily my most recent visit allowed me to stay in one of these Treehouses. Read more

Cast Member’s Corner: A Peek Inside The New Fantasyland

During my recent visit to Disney World my boyfriend and I were privileged enough to get a sneak peek at the New Fantasyland.  We were enjoying the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party when we thought we would stop by and see if there were holding viewings.  They said that they probably would start holding some previews once the actual party started.  While we were deciding what to do, wait around or go on more rides, a manager came over.  He asked us how many were in our party and after finding another couple told us to follow him.  He directed us straight over to Maurice’s Cottage.  He said we would be allowed to see all of the New Fantasyland but would have to start at the cottage.  I was encouraged to take as many pictures as I wanted. Cast Member’s Corner: Cast Member Conversations

Having just been in Disney I’m having such a hard time deciding what to write, besides having the post-Disney blues.  After warring with myself for quite awhile I figured I would share some information I attained while on vacation.  In the past I have written about conversing with the Cast Members, it never disappoints.  Between kind-hearted teasing about someone’s “First Visit Again” pin to their knowledge of the parks and what is going on,  I made conversation with several Cast Members while waiting in lines and learned some fun new things. Cast Member’s Corner: Let The Magical Memories Begin

I’m getting ready to go down to Disney in a little less than two weeks.  I’m always excited to go down to Disney, my second home, but this time it will be a little different.  I’m especially excited to be going down this time because I will be taking my boyfriend down with me, who hasn’t been down to Disney since he was young and doesn’t seem to remember much of it beyond Space Mountain.  I wanted to do what he wanted to do while we were there so I asked him to try and plan it.  So of course when I asked what I should write about in Cast Member’s Corner he said, “What to do at Disney for someone who’s going for the first time as an adult.”  I figured now would be a good time to give in and write that topic since he has already pretty much planned it out.
