The one thing I hear most often from Disney enthusiasts is that “Disney does it right, even down to the smallest detail”! This statement is so true and even more so when it comes to special events throughout the year. Magic Kingdom is the home to 2 very popular special events: Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. (Otherwise known as MNSSHP and MVMCP among Disney fans. )
Both of these parties are held on special days throughout the fall and winter and do require a special ticket to attend. On those special nights, the park closes early to guests who do not have a party ticket. While the festivities for both parties start after the park closes, you can generally enter the park a few hours before the scheduled start of the party and stay until the party is over after mid-night. A park pass is not required for that day, only the party ticket. This is definitely a money saver, since your park ticket is sometimes more expensive then the party ticket, depending on the evening you are attending MNSSHP or MVMCP. Plus you can save that park ticket for another day!
At Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party you can expect to see ghouls and ghosts and even the Headless Horseman in a special Halloween parade. Each guest is given a Halloween bag to do your own trick or treating throughout Magic Kingdom. During MNSSHP, costumes are encouraged for kids of all ages, including adults with some limitations on things like masks, “weapons”, and costumes that drag the ground. You can visit www.waltdisneyworld.com for specific guidelines. And of course, these is a special themed fireworks show as well. While at MNSSHP be sure and enjoy not only the atmosphere and see some of your favorite characters, but the rides and attractions are available too….usually with shorter lines than during a regular park day.
When you attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party be prepared to see a special Christmas parade with Mickey and many of your favorite characters dressed in their holiday best and yes, Santa too! There will be special treats and holiday foods for you to enjoy….and snow as you come down Main Street. Be sure to check out the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas party with Mike from Monsters, Inc and Buzz to help bring in the Holiday cheer! Just like during the MNSSHP, there is a special Holiday fireworks show, and again, rides and attractions! The party goes until late in evening, so get plenty of rest before joining Mickey and the gang to ring in the Holidays!
