Photos are one of the most priceless ways to remember your Disney vacation and there are a number of ways to make sure you have plenty to look at when you get home!
For starters, make sure to always have your cameras and/or cell phones ready to snap those unforgettable moments. So that you don’t miss a thing, it is best to have your cell phone or a camera in a pocket or close by so that you’re ready to to get those timeless action shots that would be lost if you had to dig for it in your park bag.
Consider getting the kids involved in taking photos too! On a recent trip with one of our grandsons, we gave him a camera where the pictures could be downloaded either daily onto a computer or when we returned home. When we got back and I downloaded what was on the camera, it was fun to see how the pictures really captured Walt Disney World through the eyes of a pre-teen. About 75% of the pictures were selfies of himself, while also getting the parks and sites in the back ground. I wouldn’t suggest a very expensive camera be given to a child but something they can snap pictures on without constantly asking for your phone definitely saves time and also your cell phone battery!
Of course, Disney PhotoPass photographers are available to take pictures of you and your family throughout the parks and resorts. You can also ask the photographers to take photos with your own cameras, they are more than willing to do so! I have found taking selfies is a great way to get you in the picture even if a cast member or someone else isn’t around. Just don’t forget, selfie-sticks are not allowed in the parks.
Want more fun with your pictures? Ask your PhotoPass photographer about “Magic Shots”, as these special PhotoPass pictures can be even more special. Looking for some action shots? The major rides in the parks will snap your picture while riding, then download automatically to your My Disney Experience account and are always fun to see afterwards! Some rides even have short videos and if you purchase the Memory Maker photo package, they will be added to the Memory Maker downloads.
Photographers are very good at centering your group in pictures for the optimum look with the background, so when taking one with your camera or cell phone – stay close to them. We have been known to stop at several photographers as we go up Main Street. You will be surprised at the different angles along the way. If someone in your party is going to a get a surprise, such as a marriage proposal let the photographer know as the happy couple is getting into position for their picture. The photographers are very good at the initial surprise shots and then helping to set up a few more special pictures. My son proposed to his girlfriend at Magic Kingdom several years back and listening to everyone in line applauding when it happened was just a once in a life time moment!
If you you have a large group and have plans to split up during the day, everyone can still be involved getting pictures. As long as you are all linked together in My Disney Experience, everyone’s photos will be added.
Using My Disney Experience app, you can view your PhotoPass photos each night. You will have 45 days to purchase and download your pictures (either individually or through the Memory Maker photo package) once you leave Walt Disney World. If you have Memory Maker, you will have unlimited downloads, but just be mindful that after 45 days they are deleted!
