Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups: What to Do at Hollywood Studios

11265492_10153286444242488_149628278218900850_oWalt Disney World is just as enjoyable for adults as it is for kids, and our family of adults love to make a stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because it has a few of our favorite rides. The park’s theme aims to capture the magic of old Hollywood glamour and movie-making, and while we don’t always spend a full day at Hollywood Studios, there a few attractions here we try not to miss and that many adults will love.

Hollywood Studios has several great stops for thrill seekers, including the only ride in Walt Disney World that actually goes upside down. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has a 0 – 60 mph take-off followed by multiple loops and corkscrews, with Aerosmith blasting the whole way there. It’s definitely for roller coaster fans. For a balance of thrills and theming, though, the prize goes to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, an incredibly detailed ride that perfectly carries out the story of a dilapidated hotel haunted by a mysterious elevator accident. Twilight Zone fans should look for hidden Easter eggs from the show throughout the queue and pre-show areas. For more thrills, check out Star Tours, a simulator ride and must-do for Star Wars fans. This ride randomly combines different destinations throughout the galaxy, so your ride can be different each time.

As I’ve said before, not everyone is keen for thrill rides, and that’s not all that Hollywood Studios has to offer. Perhaps the ride that best captures the park’s overall theme is the Great Movie Ride, housed in the replica of the Chinese Theater at the end of Hollywood Boulevard. This ride takes guests on a tour through scenes from famous films, everything from Singin’ in the Rain, to the Wizard of Oz, to Alien. For more movie magic, guests should also check out the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular showcasing stunts, pyrotechnics, and explosions, along with a behind-the-scenes look at how actors and film crews make them happen.

If you’re also looking for an attraction to make you feel like a kid again (and we always are), then try to make a visit to Toy Story Midway Mania to show off your balloon-popping skills.
