We’ve discussed some of the great free transportation options at Walt Disney World this month. But believe it or not, today I want to chat about a new way to get around the parks that is NOT free….but may definitely be worth the small cost. Allow me to introduce, the Walt Disney World Minnie Vans.
Through a collaboration with the US’ fastest growing rideshare service, Lyft, guests at these resorts can arrange their own private Disney vehicle right from the Lyft app on their smartphone. With Minnie Van service, Disney cast members will then whisk you away to wherever you want to be at Walt Disney World Resort. This service accommodates up to six guests and provides two versatile car seats so even the tiniest of passengers can travel in style! The service costs $20 per trip.
Minnie Van service will be available between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. (subject to change). Currently only available at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, it is expected that this service will expand to other resorts over the coming months.
So if this is Thrifty Thursday, then why am I recommending a service that costs money? Simply that I am a firm believer in “time is money” and if using a quick little service that costs $20 for your entire family can help you get from Point A to Point B in just a few minutes – as opposed to a potentially lengthy wait – then that $20 means more park time, or more meal time or more something you *want* to do instead of *have to do*. Where I think this could potentially be very helpful is getting from your resort to a different resort for a dining reservation. At the moment, in most cases, doing this means taking transportation to a park and then going from there to the second resort. This could take a loooonggg time depending on the time of day. But with a Minnie Van, it’s literally minutes!
Time is money, which is why I think spending this $20 could be a very thrifty choice indeed!
