The 40th Anniversary Celebration at Walt Disney World

The single reason I booked my trip to Walt Disney World back in January, 2011 was to be inside the Magic Kingdom on the day it turned 40. I had been looking forward to this trip so much and it was well worth it. It means so much to me that I got to be there and I wanted to share it with you all, so I hope you will enjoy this pictorial journey of the celebration.

Inside the gate…just waiting to go in.

Each of us who entered that morning received a special anniversary pin for “40 Magical Years”…

…as well as a guide map with a commemorative map inside of the Magic Kingdom on opening day.

Susan and I were so happy to be there! The crowds were massive, to say the least, but the show was great.

The Dapper Dans were the chosen entertainment and I was very happy about that because they have been there from the start.

Everyone asked what we were celebrating and I simply said “Walt’s Dream.”

Main Street Bakery had special 40th Anniversary cupcakes for the occasion and I am a cupcake girl. Right before my turn, they brought out more chocolate so I had to have one of those.

The ticket on top was made of fondant and I tried to get a close-up for you guys. It is a copy of the original E-ticket from the park opening in 1971.

Then I purchased some 40th Anniversary merchandise.

Mickey ears… …and a commemorative pin.

I am so thankful that I got to be there when the park turned 40. I was even able to meet the 2011 Disney Ambassadors after the show was over. It was a wonderful experience and I hope many of you were able to enjoy it too! If not, I hope to see you at the 50th anniversary celebration!
