Terrific Tuesdays: Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

What is a Walt Disney World vacation without watching Wishes nighttime spectacular show? If it is your first time or your fiftieth, you probably make it a point to watch Wishes. I think everyone could agree the view from in front of Cinderella Castle is amazing! What do you do if you find yourself over in Frontierland moments before the show starts? What if Wishes is scheduled during your fast pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train? Do not fret there are some equally amazing views from many different areas in (and out of) Magic Kingdom.

If you are in Frontierland there are a few good places to watch. There is the dock where you catch the boat to Tom Sawyer’s Island. Some views are obstructed by trees but you may be able to find a clear place to watch. However, in that area you will not be seeing the fireworks that surround Cinderella Castle. A personal favorite in Frontierland is on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It is a view matched by no other in Frontierland. Sadly your ride will end before the fireworks do.

Often time’s people will be in Liberty Square watching Wishes as well. If you find a spot somewhere between Liberty Square Riverboat and Haunted Mansion you will usually have a great view of both areas of fireworks, the ones surrounding the castle and those that originate behind Fantasyland.

What do you do when Wishes is scheduled during your fast pass time for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train? You have just found another good attraction to watch from. The view is not quite as good as when climbing the mountain on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but it is still a nice view.

With the expansion of Fantasyland there are several more areas to sit, yes sit, and watch the fireworks . There is an open space near Gaston’s Tavern that that yields a great view of both sets of fireworks. There are tables and stools that are often available outside the tavern. However you will have to keep looking the left and the right to see everything. The arch way into the Fantasyland expansion is another place to sit and watch. There are several areas up by Big Top Souvenirs to sit also. Again, you may have to move around for your view to not be obstructed by trees.

It’s getting late, the kids are tired and you don’t want to fight the crowds leaving the Magic Kingdom after Wishes. There is always a nice view out front facing the train station. You will have a little jump on the flood of people trying to rush out of the park to their mode of transportation.

If your park days are done, and you want to see Wishes one last time, there is a great view from the Ticket and Transportation Center. Head over toward the ferryboat and a cast member should be able to show you where they go off from. There is also the beach at the Contemporary Resort or the beach at the Polynesian Resort. The down side of watching from the beaches, the music is hit and miss, occasionally it is there sometimes it is not. Hopefully there are a few places you didn’t think of where you can watch Wishes if you don’t find yourself in front of Cinderella Castle.
