Terrific Tuesdays: Transportation at Disney!

monorailA great reason to stay at Walt Disney World Resorts is the ability to leave the “real” world behind and let others do the “driving!” Not everyone enjoys this, but I see Disney Transportation as a ride in itself! Sure, it isn’t as exciting and doesn’t come with its own entertaining queue, but it does allow you to “chill” out between parks and not worry if you are going the right way to your next destination! On a recent trip I had so much fun taking selfies on each of our rides from park to park!

The most available mode of transportation is the Disney Bus. The buses are the most common way to get from your hotel each morning to the park of your choice or Disney Springs. Unfortunately the buses do not go from hotel to hotel, but I can understand why they wouldn’t. Easy fix – go to the closest park and instead of enjoying the park – jump on the next bus to a hotel that comes by! We have done that several times. Doing this allows you to enjoy the atmosphere at the hotels you normally wouldn’t stay at or generally couldn’t afford to stay at. We visit the pool area, not to swim, but to enjoy the pool bar. The moderate and deluxe hotels also have bars and different restaurants, that your value hotels to do not.

The monorail is a great way to get from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom. You do have to switch monorails at the transportation center, but isn’t this much easier than parking and walking even further. I do miss the ability to ride in the front of the monorail with the captain, but the scenery from any of the cars is incredible. Trying riding from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian, then actually into the Contemporary! It is a sight to behold.

Another way to get from EPCOT, the back entrance, to Disney Hollywood Studios is by boat. To me this is the most relaxing, but also the slowest way. Recently my son and I walked the same route, stopping on the Boardwalk and got to Disney Hollywood Studios just as the boat pulled up. It is quite a walk, but definitely not a strenuous one.

What is your favorite way to get around from park to park?
Do you think of it as a ride too!???
