You like cars? You’ve dreamed of designing cars? Walt Disney World yet again, has you covered. You will find Test Track at Epcot. It was remodeled back in 2012 to change sponsorship and add a design studio among other changes.
As you enter the queue for this attraction you can observe new innovations that Chevrolet is working on. There is also a concept car on display at the front entrance of this attraction.
As you move your way thru the queue you will enter the Design Studio. Here you will design your virtual concept vehicle. The vehicle will be tested using these four criteria: capability, responsiveness, efficiency and power. As you add different extras to your vehicle, your rating numbers will change up and down. For example you can not choose a high powered engine without lowering your efficiency rating. Although my family always chooses to create a gas guzzling high powered vehicle! After your vehicle is designed you will continue on to the testing area.
During the test drive you will see how your concept vehicle performs. There are charts on the test drive with the results of it’s performance. The last test is my favorite, the speed test. The track is almost a mile long with top speeds of about 65 mph. The fastest speed we have ever reached is 65.8 mph.
Once you are finished with your test drive the ride is not over. There are numerous interactive exhibits that can include your vehicle. You can check your test results compared to other concept cars. There is an area to make a commercial for your vehicle. One of my families favorites is a free digital photo that is emailed to you of you and your concept car in front of various backgrounds. In the middle of this area is a showroom with brand new Chevrolet vehicles. If you are interested in any of the vehicles, there are representatives that can have information sent to you.
This attraction often has long wait times. I highly suggest using a fast pass for this reason. There is a single rider line that usually has shorter wait times that you can opt to use. However if you choose the single rider line, you will skip the design studio and will not be able to create a virtual vehicle. Please also keep in mind your party will be split up. Since creating the vehicle is a fun part of the attraction we don’t usually use the single rider line. Hopefully your family enjoys this thrilling ride as much as mine.
Denise has loved Disney as far back as she can remember. She has two teenage girls who were raised with Disney. Their rooms were decorated, and their closets were filled with Disney articles. Denise’s house now has Disney on every wall. Her wardrobe is made up mostly of Disney clothes. She feels that being surrounded by Disney keeps the memories and magic alive! Her friends affectionately call her “the crazy Disney lady”. Denise was born and raised in Oregon. Currently she lives in both Oregon and Florida splitting her time between both parts of the country. She lives with her youngest daughter (15) and her roommate. Her daughter goes to high school In Oregon. Denise and her roommate sneak away to Florida several times a year, as often as possible. Her daughter tags along when she can, without missing too much school. Her oldest daughter (20) doesn’t make it to Florida much anymore, but hopes to again very soon. Denise’s first trip to Walt Disney World was for her birthday in 2009. She fell more in love with the magic of Disney that day! Ever since then, Denise and her kids have been annual passholders. Last spring she upgraded to a premier pass to include Disneyland. Over spring break her youngest daughter had the pleasure of her first visit to Disneyland. With Denise helping them plan, her brother and his family enjoyed their first family trip to Disneyland at that same time. Denise is looking forward to helping you with money saving tips as well as sharing the excitement and magic of Disney!
