Thrifty Thursday: The Contents of My Disney Post-Trip Suitcase

My next Walt Disney World vacation is in only 13 days and I am already making a list of all the items I plan to have packed into my checked bag on the way home. There are many items I feel I need to grab and, since I do have adult-onset ADD, I even have to make a list for this. I don’t want to call it a “shopping list” because I have an aversion to shopping. So, here is a list of the items which will make up the contents of my post-trip suitcase:

  • Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party merchandise, which can only be purchased during the party.
  • The first of many collectibles for my new grand-princess, Aleyah’s, brand new Disney collection. Thank you for replying to Tuesday’s post with your ideas, and thank you especially to Richard Trethewey. After receiving all your great suggestions, I called my son and asked him his opinion of my final 3 choices (pins, mini-snowglobes, and Precious Moments) and he chose MINI-SNOWGLOBES. He chose these for 2 reasons: I have a large snowglobe collection so hers would be like mine but for her size (how cute) and he said that someday he will build her a cabinet to hold all her special snowglobes from Mimi (the nickname they are calling me) so I will be purchasing her first mini-snowglobe this trip – a Mickey of course.
  • Several varieties of candy from Goofy’s Candy Co. This will be important to a brand new holiday tradition. It will be the authentic Disney items I will include in my new holiday decorating tradition of creating an in-house, old-fashioned candy store.
  • An ornament for my hubby, one for each of my kids, and one for my new grand-princess for this year’s tree.
  • A 2011 pin from Port Orleans Riverside.
  • A 2011 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party pin.
  • A Muppet t-shirt with Animal on the drums that my oldest son, Johnnie, saw several years ago in the parks – hope I can find it.
  • An Ariel travel mug which was available on disneystore.com for a very short period of time. I hope I can find one in the park for Kristen.
  • 40th Anniversary Mickey Ears for my collection.
  • New Grumpy boxers for my hubby, Butch, and something special for my youngest, Josh.
  • Mementos collected during the trip.
  • A photo album for the pics from this trip.
  • A Mickey business card holder for my desk.
  • Giveaway items for upcoming site giveaways on my personal blog, Ideally Disney.
  • Confirmation for reservations made on a bounce-back offer (keeping my fingers crossed).

Anticipating every aspect of the trip just adds to the excitement of going to Walt Disney World. One thing is for sure, the contents of my suitcase on the way back will far outweigh the contents on the way there, literally. What better reason is there to check a bag?

Bringing some Disney home is the best way to hold onto great memories while tiding you over until your next visit. So, what will make up the contents of your post-trip suitcase?

Princesses With a Plan: 35 Days and Counting

The ticker on my Disney Time Countdown Clock says 35 days, so I figured this was a perfect opportunity to update you all on the trip Susan and I are planning for our magical girlfriends getaway to Walt Disney World. With only 35 days left, and lots of entries in our own personal calendars, we have been stealing away time to talk every chance we can get about our plans and ideas. We have completed all the necessary pre-trip details. We have a plan for our touring itinerary, foodie list, and not-to-miss rides and show information. We have ordered t-shirts, developed packing lists and calendared other items not quite ready to act upon yet. I have also contacted online friends who will be visiting at the same time and have scheduled tentative meeting times. Read more

Princesses With A Plan: Packing for Our Disney Trip

Now that we have booked our flight, Susan and I have been making checklists of what we want to pack for our upcoming trip. We will pack most of our things in our checked baggage, but we want to make sure that we have any necessary items in our carry on bags as well.

Because of TSA rules, we have been picking up travel-sized toiletries whenever we see them on sale. *The rules say that liquids and gels must be in 3-oz containers and then these containers must be put inside one clear, quart-sized zip-top bag.  Our lightweight carry on suitcases will include our essential items, just in case our luggage gets lost. Also, we will be going to the park immediately, so we want to make sure that all the necessary items for park touring are included in our carry on bags as well. Read more

Tuesday Disney Tips: ‘Twas the Day Before Disney World

Our friend Brenda is on her way to Florida for a Thanksgiving trip to Walt Disney World. She left a few thoughts with us before she left…. 🙂

Tis the day before Disney World
I’m checking my list
Have to get through one more work day
To complete the tasks I’ve missed

Our bags are packed and ready
Now what else to do?
Here are a few things that today
I need to make sure get done too

I’ve watered the plants and picked up the meds
I’ve cleaned up the house except making our beds
I paid all the bills that soon will be due
Canceled the paper and held the mail too

I’ve checked all the tires and changed the oil
Cleaned out the fridge so nothing will spoil
I took out the trash and gassed up the car
Stopped at the bank, or we wouldn’t get far

I printed the maps and programmed the GPS
Won’t sleep much tonight as I’m sure you could guess
Now tomorrow there will only be a few things to do
Before we’re in bed at 8 and then up at 2

We’ll load some stuff and put the rest by the door
Charge all the phones, ipods and more
Grab my Disney notebook or how could I make it
Everything’s in it, no way I could fake it

Grab the pillows and blankets and each tech device
Then check the stove, I always check twice
Set the thermostat to save on our bill
Now grab my coffee and take my pill

Load up final things and set the alarm code
We are out of the driveway and in Disney mode!
