Wordless Wednesday: And That’s a Wrap…

photo (9)The announcement this past weekend that Disney will be bringing a brand new attraction featuring Mickey Mouse to Hollywood Studios was met with excitement by many who are eager to see the mouse that “started it all” have his own ride. Until it was shared that the last remaining attraction from the original “Disney-MGM Studios” – The Great Movie Ride- would be closing for good in just a few weeks in order to make room for Mickey’s new ride. Change is good but change is hard, and we will all miss taking this very special ride through the movies. Sadly, as they say in the movies, it looks like “that’s a wrap” for The Great Movie Ride. Since Mickey’s Sorcerer’s hat came down several years ago, the original icon of Disney’s Hollywood Studios can now be seen, a full-scale reproduction of Graumann’s Chinese Theater, which houses The Great Movie Ride. Even though I liked Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat, I always wondered why they would want to block such an interesting icon! Read more

Terrific Tuesdays: Visiting Hollywood’s Great Movies

If you love movies, you don’t want to miss The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!  The queue is a double-queue (winding in and out of the rows – so the people you see once you probably won’t see again – it’s kind of cool), with previews from old movies playing while you wait.  Upon leaving the queue, you board a tram that will take you literally into the movies!  You get a personal tour guide, who will tell you a bit about the movies as you’re traveling through.
