Princesses With A Plan: Packing for Our Disney Trip

Now that we have booked our flight, Susan and I have been making checklists of what we want to pack for our upcoming trip. We will pack most of our things in our checked baggage, but we want to make sure that we have any necessary items in our carry on bags as well.

Because of TSA rules, we have been picking up travel-sized toiletries whenever we see them on sale. *The rules say that liquids and gels must be in 3-oz containers and then these containers must be put inside one clear, quart-sized zip-top bag.  Our lightweight carry on suitcases will include our essential items, just in case our luggage gets lost. Also, we will be going to the park immediately, so we want to make sure that all the necessary items for park touring are included in our carry on bags as well. Here is a list of what I will carry on:

  • A travel folder containing our itinerary, flight and hotel confirmations and any other pertinent information.
  • Toiletries: toothbrush, small toothpaste*, dental floss, mouthwash*, deodorant*, items for personal hygiene, and lotion*
  • Makeup: *moisturizer, mascara, foundation, lip gloss and perfume all have the same stipulations as liquids.
  • Hair items: hairbrush, ponytail holders and clips, curling iron
  • Clothing: pajamas, change of clothing (including underclothes) just in case our luggage is delayed
  • Electronic items: Kindle, cell phone, cell phone charger, camera and camera charger
  • Food items: snacks and gum
  • Poly backpack
  • Wallet with I.D., cash and cards
  • Skin care items: sunscreen* and Chapstick with SPF
  • Sunglasses
  • Notebook and pen
  • poncho (if rain is in the forecast)
  • Medications
  • Sweater or jacket for the plane and park if the weather calls for it
  • Lanyard (because our first night is extra magic hours at Epcot)

We usually drive to Walt Disney World and have been afforded the opportunity to carry anything we wanted, so if you have any tips on items we might be missing for a flight, would you please let us know? We would sure appreciate it.

You seem to have everything covered. In all actuality, I wouldn’t worry so much about the traveling toiletries because these are all things you can pick up in the hotel gift shop. They aren’t cheap as you well know but to save room, they are the items that would be not so bad if you forgot them. *** Make sure ALL medications are in ORIGINAL packages! If it is a prescription and you don’t want to take the chance of losing all of them, leave some at home and bring only what you will need for the trip! If it is Tylenol, Motrin, etc, make sure it’s in the original bottle! No pills in a pill box for example! They will confiscate them and it will cause you major headaches! Literally and figuratively!

A couple of trips ago I realized that I was getting a bit too old & creaky for sitting on the curb. I bought a blow-up camping seat pillow, it adds a bit of weight to my daypack at the parks but it is wonderful and easy to have it. Blow it up, a much more comfortable way to watch fireworks, parades etc. Deflate & fold and back in the daypack. Also if the evening gets chilly, it is lovely to have some separation from the chilly bleachers at Fantasmic and my tush!

I always keep a small ziploc bag with bandaids and pre-cut pieces of moleskin in my daypack as well, if something bothers me with my feet I can take care of it right away instead of going to first aid or waiting until back in the room.

Ahh I love the idea of an inflatable pillow! I think I may be trying this out on our next trip! 🙂
