Planning a Disney Vacation: But Wait… There’s More?

12439126_10154068586299321_506218389225105491_nResort reservation? Check. Dining Reservations? Check. Park tickets, airfare, car rental… Bet you think you’re done planning for your trip, right?

Well, the basics are done and you can certainly have a magical time with just that. But Disney offers so much more! Did you know that you can go behind the scenes at Animal Kingdom? Or that you can have lunch with a Disney Imagineer? All of those experiences and so much more are available for you to explore.

If you don’t want to take time out of your day for a tour, there are lots of other kinds of extras, like four themed swashbuckling sunset cruises. Or wake up with the sun for a surfing lesson at Typhoon Lagoon. No matter what your passion, be it gardening, photography, fashion… Disney has a special experience just for you. Research online or work through your experienced Disney World travel agent to learn more!

If one of these events isn’t for you, my final “extra” recommendation is Memory Maker. You may remember the old “photo pass” system, where people in the Park would take your picture and you could go online to purchase it. Disney has enhanced this service to be a more fully encompassing experience. YES, there are still folks around every Park who will take pictures of you – and as a single mom, it’s nice to actually be IN some pictures vs. just being the one who’s taking them! But now, the photos get loaded to your Magic Band and are instantly available to see online. Plus, when you buy the package, you also receive all of the photos taken on the rides too. I don’t know about you, but I NEVER used to let my kids buy those pictures – but now that they are included, we plan our poses and think of those pictures as a cherished memory.

If you’re looking for that little something extra to add to your trip, go to the “Things to Do” tab on https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ to explore and find your passion!

Alysia has always been a Disney freak. From her first visit in 1974 to her most recent visit in September, she has grown up loving the experience that Disney provides its guests. Now with two children, she can proudly say she’s raising two little Disney freaks of her own. When she’s not planning a trip, Alysia has spent the last 23 years in marketing, working at both billion dollar corporations and small non-profits. It was during her time at one of those non profits, the Wildlife Conservation Society (parent company of the Bronx Zoo), that she took a side job at the Disney Store to supplement her income. Those five years as a Cast Member convinced Alysia that she would do whatever she could to work in and around the Disney company to marry her professional expertise and her passion for the Mouse! Writing for the Affordable Mouse brings her one step closer to that goal!
