Happy Thanksgiving From The Affordable Mouse

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us here at The Affordable Mouse. We wish you and your family every good blessing and we are so very thankful to have you join us today!

I personally have so much to be thankful for this year. I have been blessed in many ways, paramount among them is the birth of my first grandchild (or grandprincess as I like to call her), Aleyah, who at 4 weeks old has already brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined. I cannot wait to take her on her first trip to Walt Disney World and Nancy and I have a friendly bet on how long I will be able to hold out.

Speaking of Disney, I thought it would be great to talk about the ways that Disney has blessed my life, and yours. Walt Disney and his works have made such an impact on the lives of Disney fans like us. I know that my life has been enriched in many ways because Walt was alive. Here are some of the blessings I have received from my visits to Disney:

  • It might sound cliché, but getting to see a child’s face when he or she sees Mickey Mouse or their favorite Disney character for the first time.
  • Recognizing that the magic isn’t only in the scenes, sounds, and smells of Walt Disney World, but in the love that lives inside the heart of the one who cared enough to take you there.
  • Having an opportunity to be in community with people from all over the world in a matter of minutes. I have learned this when getting soaked on Kali River Rapids with a family from England, and from going on an African safari with some hilarious Canadians. When you are sharing joy and laughter, it doesn’t even matter what language you speak – we are the same!
  • Realizing that rainy days are laced with sunshine. Riding Expedition Everest in pouring rain, while you and your family laugh hysterically at how silly you all look in your orange ponchos, is a memory that cannot be replaced.
  • Actually seeing that Disney vacations shared with family create little memory stores that seep out through the years. These bind the family forever.
  • Realizing that there is no greater love on earth than family. Spending my days at Disney with my family have been the most wonderful days of my life.
  • Gaining appreciation for the fact that optimism, hope for a better world, and caring for my fellow man is something that is very important to my daily life. When I think about Walt Disney, the humanitarian, it makes me feel like this world has a chance.
  • Being honored with the chance to “meet” and become friends with other Disney bloggers, lovers, and fans who I truly care about. This has added happiness to every day of my life this year.

Although he is no longer here, Walt’s work continues to affect the lives of millions of people every day. How has it affected yours? Today, I would love to hear how Disney has made your life better too. Please share your comments with us!
