Disney Vacation Planning: The Magic of Wishes Fireworks

A big question I got during my time working the fireworks was, “Where is the best place to watch the fireworks?”  Unlike most people, I don’t have a simple answer.

To those who have never seen the fireworks before I suggest Main Street, that way you get the total experience.  You see the castle, Tinkerbell’s flight, and the fireworks all around.  It is going to be crowded so I always recommend finding a curb and parking it there an hour or so before the fireworks, especially when there is a parade.  Then you can have someone run and get snacks if you want.  When the time comes you just stand up and move into the street.  For those that don’t like large crowds I recommend the bridge between Main Street and Tomorrowland.  You still get a great view of the castle just with a little less packed sardines feeling.

Now if people have seen the fireworks before there are some other options.  For a different view of the fireworks all together I would recommend Fantasyland, although I am partial to there since that is where I worked.  In Fantasyland the fireworks occur all around you.  Although you will not be able to see Tinkerbell’s flight in its entirety, if you stand to the left of the castle while you are looking at it, you will be able to catch a glimpse of Tinkerbell as she just takes flight.

The number one thing I tell people who have seen the fireworks before and don’t seem to be totally into seeing them again is, that is the magical time to go on rides, especially when there is a parade right before the fireworks.  You will have the shortest wait times of the day.  And some of the outdoor rides are a lot of fun at night like Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain.  The only thing you will have to be wary of is how you want to maneuver around the park if it is parade time.  There are only certain places you can cross the parade path and only at certain times so be aware!

So whether you’re new to seeing the fireworks or a pro like me, there is a place for you to see the fireworks.  Enjoy the fireworks for me the next time you’re in Disney whether by ride or right there on Main Street USA and give Tinkerbell my best!  Have fun experiencing the faith, trust, and pixie dust of the Disney World fireworks!
