Disney Vacation Fun: Magic Kingdom Trivia

Who doesn’t love trivia! If you do, why not see if you can stump friends and family with some new-found Disney knowledge! To start, let’s talk about Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World.

What is located beneath the Magic Kingdom?

The utilidors.  Magic Kingdom is actually built up on the second floor.  Dirt was taken from the Seven Seas Lagoon to help build up Magic Kingdom park.

Why does it seem like such a long walk up Main Street when you enter but takes no time at all when you leave the park?

Main Street USA is built on a slight incline.  Walt and the Imaginears decided to built the incline leading up to the castle so that it made guests slow down entering the park, giving them time to experience Main Street and get a look around.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, they wanted tired guests to have no difficulty exiting the park and heading the their transportation.

Where are those delicious smells coming from when you walk down Main Street?

True the bakery and confectionery store both are constantly making delicious concoctions that you smell but that’s not it.  Throughout Main Street there are some vents that enhance these smells.  Making your mouth water and bring back memories of when mom was baking in the kitchen.  During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party you can smell peppermint while strolling down Main Street as well.

What’s that light in the window of the firehouse?

There is a lamp placed in the window of the firehouse that is always left on in memory of Walt.  There’s an apartment located in the second story of the firehouse for Walt and his family.

How tall is Cinderella Castle?

Cinderella Castle stands 189 ft tall.  This is because at the time the FAA required aircraft warning beacons to be places on structures 190 ft tall.  Walt and the Imagineers did not want this because they felt it would take away from the magic.

How many blocks were used to build Cinderella Castle?

None, it’s a trick question.  Cinderella Castle is not made of any bricks or blocks it is actually a façade.

What’s in the upper levels of Cinderella Castle?

When building Cinderella Castle they built an apartment for Walt and his family for when they were in Florida.  It wasn’t until 2006 that the apartment was actually finished and turned into the deluxe suite.

How many dolls are there in It’s A Small World?

There are 289 singing and dancing auto-animatronics dolls.  There are also 147 toys for the dolls to play with and 36 other animated props such as the smiling sun.

How many of the It’s A Small World dolls are classified as American dolls?

At the end of the ride in the final room there are two American dolls, a cowboy and an Indian.  Those are the only two dolls in the ride considered to be American.

Where can you find Mr. Toad in the park?

Mr. Toad can be found in a picture in the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride.  He is handing over the deed to Owl.  This is a small nod to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride that used to be located in the same place.  Mr. Toad can also be found in the back of the pet cemetery in front of the Haunted Mansion.

How many sunglasses are turned into lost and found each day?

An average of 210 per day.  Many of which are not claimed.
