Disney Resort Spotlight: Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is a moderate resort at Walt Disney World with a southern bayou manor-style theme. The resort is located just north of Disney Springs, and is within walking distance of its sister resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

The resort is divided into two areas: Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. Alligator Bayou is a complex of two-story buildings with a more rustic bayou feel to the décor. Magnolia Bend is made up of several manor-style buildings along the bend of the river that flows into the resort, and the décor in these rooms is more ornate.

The resort’s main pool is Ol’ Man Island, which has a variety of rustic-themed water play features and a water slide. There are also several smaller pools scattered throughout the resort. There are also a variety of activities for guests to enjoy such as fishing and carriage rides.

Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside can sleep up to 4 or 5 guests. Rooms that can accommodate 5 include a child-size pull-down bed in addition to 2 queen beds. For those who want to add a princess touch to their stay, you can also choose a Royal Room, which has special décor featuring a variety of Disney Princesses.

There are also a variety of dining options at the resort. For a casual sit-down dinner, guests can visit Boatwright’s Dining Hall, or get quick-service, southern-style food at the Riverside Mill. Guests can also relax with a drink at the old-fashioned River Roost lounge, which is also the venue for the popular musical entertainer Yehaa Bob.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside features bus transportation to all four theme parks and Disney Springs. Because Riverside is a large and spread-out resort, there are four bus stops to make sure there is a bus stop close by for all guests. On some occasions Riverside will share bus transportation with the neighboring French Quarter. Guests can also take advantage of boat transportation between their resort and Disney Springs.
