Disney Dining: Plaza Ice Cream

We decided to head over to Magic Kingdom this past weekend.  After all, it had been 2 ½ months since we visited the World.  I know we are extremely blessed to live here in Florida and close enough that we can basically visit whenever we have free time (which isn’t too often these days).  We tried a new place that I have heard many people go on and on about…the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street.

The décor was that of an ol’ fashioned soda shop.  It was the traditional pastel colors with the Cast Members are all wearing the ol’ fashioned Soda Shop uniforms.  The Cast Member who took our order was amazingly friendly, even at midnight.  The line was out the door, however it moved very quickly and our order was completely correct.

There were several different items to choose from including gigantic ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cones, waffle bowls, sundaes, and many flavors’ of ice cream to choose from including Mint Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, and sugar free Raspberry Sorbet.  Toppings include hot fudge, peanut Butter drizzle, whip cream, and cherries.

The kids ordered single scoop, kids’ cups in strawberry, birthday cake, and chocolate flavors.  They were absolutely adorable and included two chocolate disks that were placed strategically on the ice cream scoop to look like a Mickey head.  Love the hidden Mickeys around every corner!

Lee & I ordered the “Plaza” Ice Cream Sundae; it included 2 scoops of your choice, hot fudge, whipped topping, and a cherry served in a waffle bowl.  The Cast Member serving us our ice cream was very friendly and when we asked if we could get two cherries she proceeded to put several more than two when she found out our daughter loved cherries.

The serving size was amazing, making our decision to share a sundae a wise one!  The seating is outside and the drip factor for ice cream is very high in Florida so everyone had to quickly consume their wonderful treat.  When we were finished everyone had a smile on their face and Lee and I knew we had discovered another must-do when you visit Magic Kingdom.

Note: Lee doesn’t have much of a choice because I love ice cream.  It should also be noted that it was extremely difficult to pass Aloha Isle to get the ice cream because we are avid lovers of the ever-famous Dole Whip
