Dining at Disney World: A New Hope For A Cantina?

Rumors about a new Star Wars land coming to Walt Disney World have been flying around faster than the Millennium Falcon makes the kessel run. However, several sites have sited “sources” saying that the five year plan for Disney’s Hollywood Studios includes a major overhaul. According to Theme Park Insider, Disney will be adding a Cars land as well as Star Wars.

In order to add these lands to the park some attractions will have to hit the hyperspace highway. Some attractions that have been talked about being eliminated are, Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area, Muppets Vision 3D, the Backlot tour, and possibly the Indiana Jones Theater. However, the Indy theater is used for other things which might help save it.

When I originally heard these reports, I immediately thought how cool it would be to eat in the Cantina. Well, rumors are that Disney is planning to add an eatery to Star Wars Land. Most likely it would be a counter service restaurant. I can imagine being able to get your picture taken with Greedo in a corner booth ( I’m sure I’ll shoot first).

So what kind of food would the cantina serve? Well that is tough to answer because, unfortunately food was not a big part of the films. Likely you will get a lot of things with fun Star Wars puns in their names. A few suggestions might be:

  • A Stuffed Tauntaun Burger – a hamburger split in the middle with a cheese filling
  • Blue Cantina Cooler- You see a blue drink in the movies
  • Leia’s Cinnamon Buns
  • Skywalker Fingers- Chicken Tenders
  • Jawa Platter- Could be a sampler platter with different items (or parts)
  • Space Special- this could be a special menu item for the week (A nod to the spoof movie Spaceballs)

Please leave me your ideas in the comment section I would love to read them!

However Disney plans to overhaul Hollywood Studios I am sure it will be for the betterment of the park. I don’t think copying California Adventure will help them overall. It might bring more people to Florida, but what makes California Adventure so special is Cars land. It has boosted  attendance by 22.6% the year after Cars Land opened. So why would Disney give someone another reason to go to Florida rather than California

I would like to make one request of Disney Imagineers. Please for the love of everything that is Lucas and holy, keep this a Jar Jar free land.

Either way when Star Wars Land opens, Minnie and I will be on the first speeder bike to Walt Disney World.

I really hope that the rumors are true! Our family would be really excited to visit a Star Wars land AND a Cars Land at WDW. You aren’t the first blogger that I’ve read, who’s against the idea of Cars Land in FL. The fact for our family, and many other families, is that we cannot afford to fly across country for a vacation. Thankfully, we are close enough to make an 8 hour drive to WDW. If they don’t add it, we simply won’t get to enjoy it at all. No offense, but I hope that Disney is not listening to all of you naysayers.

    Great story…

The Tauntaun stuffed burger is brilliant, if only they give us a lightsaber knife to cut it open with.

Here are the ones i thought of :
    Ponda Baba severed wings
    Blue milkshakes
    Alderaan nuggets
    Crispy Greedo fries
