Dining at Disney; United Kingdom

After strolling out of Canada and enjoying the sounds of Off Kilter, I can hear the piano playing in the Rose and Crown Pub at United Kingdom. My trip is not complete without a visit here to take in the Irish & English atmosphere.

Few people realize you can get typical Pub food here. Beware though, the Pub does fill up quickly and stays full as the crowd filters in and out to hear The Hat Lady and to enjoy a cold one. Just a tease; The Hat Lady is an entertainer, singer, pianist all in one. Be sure to ask her about her hat – each one has a story behind it.

Pub food here ranges from Scotch egg, Fish & Chips, English bulldog, and Corned Beef Sandwich to a trio of United Kingdom cheese. These are great for a quick snack without having a sit down dinner. Of course you need to wash it down with a regional beer or drink. My personal favorite is Bass Ale, but it is fun to mix it up with a pub blend such as a Golden, which consist of half Harp Lager and half Bass Ale. There are multiple combinations, just don’t try them all at one time. You can also find scotch, cognacs and ports for a change of pace.

For those feeling really adventurous, you can find some pub specialties. If I remember correctly my girlfriend tried one that had peach schnapps, melon liqueur, orange juice and pineapple juice! Yum! She loved it. These come in souvenir glasses too! Double fun!

As much as I enjoy the pub, I try to time my tour around United Kingdom so it falls just before Illuminations. There are small tables and chairs behind the wall on the lagoon, but usually the chairs are useless, since everyone stands to get the best view. This is a great place, if you don’t mind the standing and being a little crowded.

Enjoy that tall one and watch the lagoon light up with Illuminations – doesn’t get any better than that!
