Cruising with Disney: All About Your Stateroom

I’ve heard many people say that it doesn’t matter what kind of stateroom you get when booking a cruise because you don’t spend any time in your room, but I have to disagree.  Having experienced an inside room, an ocean view room and a stateroom with a verandah, I highly suggest a room with a verandah.

An inside room can be very dark and you never truly realize what time of day it is, which can cause you to sleep longer missing out on ships activities, pool time and the beautiful sunshine.

An ocean view room gives you a glimpse of the ocean and sunlight but I have to say that the verandah gives you more benefits than you may realize.

A verandah expands the size of your room by providing an additional seating area with a small table and chairs, it provides private outdoor space and gives you the a quiet, calming view of the ocean to enjoy a cup of coffee or an afternoon drink .

All of the staterooms really do give you adequate space.  One of the nice features in the Disney cruise ship rooms is the split bath.  It provides you the availability for two people to be getting ready at the same time and extra space for all those toiletries!

One little hint…try not to get a room with an adjoining door unless you want to hear your next door neighbors – it does allow for more noise than a room without that feature.

Sheila tells us: I live in Massachusetts with my husband and 2 daughters and was first introduced to Disney over 35 years ago. Having visited many times since, we always found ourselves eager to return because Disney always provided us so many options on things to do. One hot, humid, August day back in 1998, while visiting Animal Kingdom, a gentleman asked if we would like a ride in an air conditioned van along with an ice cold lemonade in exchange for an hour of his time. We took him up on his offer and when that hour was up we wanted to hear more…more about the Disney Vacation Club (DVC). We became DVC members that day and have never regretted our decision – we enjoy amazing vacations.
