Good luck! Now let’s continue our birthday celebration posts this week, as DeAnna lets us know how special anniversaries can be at Walt Disney World….

************************************************************************************

Anytime you’re celebrating something special, it’s a good thing.  Anytime you’re celebrating something special WITH DISNEY, it’s an even better thing!  You’ve previously heard about spending Holiday time at Disney, but have you ever considered celebrating your Anniversary there?

As you may or may not know, my husband and I were married at Walt Disney World – awesome, right? Since everyone traveled from out of town for the occasion, we spent our entire almost two week honeymoon with all the family, so it was a must that we return, just the two of us, to celebrate our first anniversary.  It was wonderful, and Disney is never at a loss for making it even more special.   Here are some tips for a great celebration:

  1. When making your initial reservations, be sure to tell your Travel Agent (TA), or Cast Member (CM), that you will be celebrating your Anniversary during your visit.
  2. Decide where you will want to dine for that “special day”, and make reservations as soon as possible, to insure availability (also informing the TA or CM on this particular dining date, you’ll be celebrating your Anniversary). Disney will allow dining reservations 180 days from your travel date.  For our anniversary, we made reservations at The Crystal Palace for breakfast, and Boma in Animal Kingdom for dinner.  When we arrived at the Crystal Palace, on our table was a huge heart made of Mickey confetti, and the CM who took us to be seated said, “Happy Anniversary to you!”  Big smiles all around!!!  At Boma, when we’d almost finished dinner, our waiter appeared with a beautifully decorated tray, on which was written “Happy Anniversary” in chocolate, and was filled with chocolate covered strawberries and other goodies.  Then of course, everyone seated at the nearby tables had to come over and sneak a peek at our special dessert, and tell us “Happy Anniversary”, as well.
  3. Stop by City Hall at Main Street, and pick up your free “Happy Anniversary” button.  Cast Members, along with many others, will wish you “Happy Anniversary” all day long, and you might even get a few special perks!  On our first anniversary visit, when entering the theatre in Hollywood Studios to see Beauty and The Beast, we were pulled aside by a CM who saw our buttons, taken all the way to the front seats (which were secured by velvet ropes), and given priority seating.  After a song or two by the quartet who entertains before the show, the singers called us to the stage, asked how many years we were celebrating, and our favorite Disney song.  Then they sang that song to us as we stood there, and afterward, gave us a Platinum Copy DVD of Beauty and the Beast, which had not even been released to stores yet!  Talk about making you feel special!!  There’s no way I could’ve purchased that DVD and it felt the same, as when Disney itself GIVES you one of the first copies available.

There were so many other things done to make our day memorable and special, we’ll certainly never forget it. There’s a number of romantic restaurants, and yes, even little quiet places to steal a quick kiss.  So when it’s time to celebrate with the one you love, make Disney your destination of choice.

Ears to ya ~ DeAnna

P.S. Epcot’s World Showcase is full of romance, might I suggest reservations at LeCellier in Canada?  The entrance is even quite charming, as you pass through iron gates, and a beautiful, inviting garden.

P.P.S. When making your dining reservations, ask about special things that can be done by your restaurant of choice.  Custom cakes can be presented, along with flowers, etc. (FYI:  it’s best to order your flowers and have them sent to your room at the resort for your honey’s return that day from the parks; otherwise you’ll be toting them around the park and onto transportation back to your resort).

DeAnna, along with her husband and teen-age son, lives in Wiggins, Mississippi, and has a passion for all things Disney. She is always eager to share the knowledge she has gained from her many trips to Walt Disney World, and has helped numerous people in their vacation planning to realize it’s not an unattainable dream. Her must-dos on every trip are Pirates of the Caribbean, Rockin’ Roller Coaster & a stolen moment of quiet with her “Boyz” (as she affectionately calls them) having a pastry from Boulangerie in Epcot World Showcase’s France. Disney is so much a part of her life, that she & her husband were married in front of Cinderella’s Castle, and she says it doesn’t get any more magical than that……

Cinderella has always been my favorite. I just love her story. I love how she never let her situation get her down and always made the best of it. I also love that despite her situation she found her Prince Charming. True Romance, ahh…

Btw, awesome story about the dvd and special anniversary treatment 🙂

My favorite Disney Princess is Belle. She likes to read books like me and is adventurous, not to stereo typical princess. Although she did clean up nice!

It used to be Ariel, when I was kid. But now that I am older, I have a lot of appreciation for Mulan. She is an independent woman, who saves the day. I think everyone aspires to be somehwat like her in everyday life!

My favourite has always been Belle since I love reading books! Then along came Rapunzel and now I am torn between the two, I mean how can you not love a princess who knows when to use a frying pan for more than cooking!

Cinderella has been my favorite for years. No matter how bad life got for her, she always had a wish and a song in her heart. She took her life into her hands and through some luck and faith, she was able to achieve her dreams.

Plus, she taught us that a pair of shoes can change your life.

I really love Belle. The reason I like her is that Belle turn a nasty beast into a cute prince charming. The story really hits close to home. I can relate Belle to my own mother. She had the responsibility of changing a rude alcoholic, beater. Into a man who cares about every soul on the planet.
