Cast Member’s Corner: I Just Can’t Wait to Go Back To Disney!

It’s no question, when you’re not at Disney you miss it.  Even when you just leave the property gates!  So it’s no wonder many people do everything they can to keep Disney in their lives even when they can’t be there.  I am no different.  Some may have thought that since I worked there I would be tired of it (I know, blasphemy!).  That just isn’t the case.  When I worked at Disney I was still in the parks on my days off.  If I didn’t go into a park I at least made it to Downtown Disney and I did not get sick of it one bit!  To this day I tell everyone who asks, that working at Disney was the best job I have ever had.  When I retire from teaching I plan on going back down to Orlando and working at Disney again.  So is it any wonder that I would incorporate as much Disney in my daily life as possible?

I start counting down and planning my next Disney trip as soon as I leave the Disney property on my way back home.  I can never stay away from Disney long.  After I graduated college and got a teaching job I immediately saw the Disney trips decrease before my eyes.  I knew that I would not be able to drop everything and go whenever I wanted, not that I could before, but I could only go certain times during the year now.  Immediately I knew, in order to make it through until my next trip I had to pack my days with as much Disney as I could, and I did just that.  My way to get through the day was to turn my classroom into a Disney classroom.  I’m talking Mickey heads, Disney music, Disney characters, and mannerisms.  Don’t forget, when time allows, I tell them stories of when I worked at Disney.  It brings smiles to not only their faces but my own as well.

Many people have different ways of getting from one vacation to Disney to the next.  At home I have Disney mugs I often use for my tea and coffee in the mornings.  It gives me a small pleasure to remember when I got it and the reason I picked that one out of the many options.  I have different Disney decorations throughout the house, from teapots and teacups to stuffed animals or pictures.  On my phone I keep a countdown until my next trip as well.  Let’s not forget I named our new puppy after a Disney character!

There are many ways to keep the Disney spirit alive until your next visit to the happiest place on earth.  What are some of your favorite ways?  Maybe I’ll start including some of yours in my everyday life as well!  Until next time my friends continue thinking your happy thoughts, we can make it through our countdowns together.  Have faith and trust, and wish Tinkerbell could mail you some pixie dust to help you make it through!

Jess was born and raised on Long Island, New York but once college began so did her adventures. She’s lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and now South Carolina. Her family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and has been visiting since she was a little girl, and continuously goes every year. Besides being a big Disney fan she has also been a Disney Cast Member working in Magic Kingdom, and she counts it as one of the most magical experiences. She worked with everyone’s favorite elephant Dumbo, Cinderella’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Philharmagic. Jess has also visited Disneyland, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and gone on two Disney Cruises. She has so many great memories from Disney besides running half marathons and 5ks, birthday parties, and family reunions. If asked where she would want to go it is almost always Disney, and when asked why, it is almost always because she can eat awesome gluten free food! And it doesn’t hurt that there is always faith, trust, and pixie dust with magic in the air!
