Cast Members Corner: Celebrating at Disney

When visiting Walt Disney World, you may notice people walking around with buttons on declaring that they are celebrating something.  Disney wants to help you celebrate any event: even if it is just a quick vacation, they like to make it memorable.

Disney makes buttons for all kinds of occasions.  They have birthday pins, anniversary or honeymoon pins, they have first visit pins, Disney Vacation Club pins, or simply I’m celebrating pins.  The best part is that you’re not wearing these pins in vain.  Cast Members are trained to spot these pins.  It can be as simple as a Cast Member wishing you happy birthday or welcome home.  But it could also be so much as creating a magical moment and announcing your birthday to all the guests in the area while they give you stickers among other things.  I celebrated my sixteenth birthday in Disney and when Cast Members saw my pin, I was sung to in Frontierland, got a certificate wishing me happy birthday from the Cast Members, and got lots of stickers.  Cast Members want to make your celebration memorable.

You can pick up these pins if you’re staying at any of the on site resorts.  You can let them know at check in if you’re celebrating anything (Ed: or you can tell your friendly travel agent in advance of your trip 🙂 ).  Either they will give you the buttons or they’ll send you to the guest services or gift shop.  Otherwise if you aren’t staying on site you can get them at any of the parks or Downtown Disney.  When you get into the parks just go to the Guest Relations location and ask them for the pins.  They’ll be more then willing to give you as many as you need and write exactly what it is you are celebrating on them.  They’ll even write your name in large letters so everyone knows how to get your attention.  So whether you’re a wallflower or love being the center of attention it pays off to wear these buttons.
