Be Our Guest: Disney Vow Renewals

Celebrating today’s Royal Wedding in Disney style, I am especially excited to welcome Belinda as a Guest Blogger for us! Belinda frequently writes for Disney Guru, where she recently shared her experiences having a Disney Vow Renewal. I was thrilled when she agreed to provide us with the “affordable” side to her wonderful day! Welcome Belinda…and thank you! 🙂

Always wished your wedding was with Disney but it just wasn’t affordable? Opt for a Vow Renewal, save a ton and have the next best thing!

When I was asked to do a guest post for The Affordable Mouse, I was honored to be a part of such a wonderful and helpful Disney site. I thought to myself, what I could share with all of you in terms of Disney being affordable? Then I knew! If you are like me, you dreamt of your wedding being with Disney but for most of us, reality set in, as the cost is extremely high. Disney weddings can cost well into the $30,000 mark, depending on how lavish you go. Why not opt for the next best thing? A Disney Vow Renewal cost a lot less and is a lot more affordable.I was a Disney Vow Renewal bride on the Disney Magic. It was wonderful to be able to have some of the same wedding perks without all the extreme expense. We opted for our ceremony to be outside on deck 7, aft.  You have two choices of where to have wedding, outside on deck or on Disney’s private Island Castaway Cay. Having your ceremony on their private island is a little bit higher, but nothing like an extreme wedding at Disney would cost. If you plan to have your wedding outside on deck and the weather is bad, they move your ceremony indoors to a lounge or club location. Cost for a Vow Renewal at Sea is anywhere between $1500 and $3000.00 depending on our ceremony of choice.

With a Vow Renewal wedding through Disney you get to enjoy some of the same perks as if you were having an actual wedding. You are assigned a wedding coordinator through Disney Fairytale weddings who helps you through every step of the way. There are also several choices that you get to make for your ceremony that are all included:

  • Cake choice – flavor, colors, shape (a Mickey and Minnie cake topper is included, but you can bring your own)
  • Bouquet choice – design of your bouquet, flowers and colors
  • Music – Songs that will be played during your ceremony, first dance and reception. (you can also bring your own music)

I also brought my own wedding petals to have laid down the aisle. They will accommodate you as best as they can with any other things you would like added to the ceremony, such as a unity candle or sand unity.

You will also receive several goodies and gifts in your room which I will leave as a secret! But I will say girls, you won’t be disappointed!  Every other night we went back to our stateroom, we were pleasantly surprised.

Your wedding coordinator will also help with any hair and nail arrangements that are needed. Wedding dress steaming is included in the price and they pick it up at least 2 days prior to your ceremony date. Also included is dinner at Palo, an adult’s only restaurant aboard the ship, on the night of our vow renewal. Usually there is a fee to dine here, but for the bride and groom, it’s free. At the end of your ceremony, you will be presented with a take come certificate, similar to a marriage license but with the Disney touch. It is presented in a beautiful portfolio and presented by the captain.

This is truly an experience you will never forget. If you have ever dreamed of being a Disney bride but just couldn’t fit it into your budget, this is definitely the way to go. Celebrate your anniversary milestone by having a vow renewal wedding at sea with Disney Cruise Line. You will create magical Disney memories to last a lifetime while having your Disney wedding fairytale come true!
